Jesus' Last Supper was actually a Jewish Passover. Karol Joseph of Jews for Jesus will re-create the traditional Passover service and explain how it foreshadowed Jesus' death and resurrection. We are proud to host this presentation called "Christ in the Passover" on Thursday, April 14, at 6 p.m.
Jews for Jesus has presented "Christ in the Passover" at more than 38,000 churches. It has been enthusiastically received by Christians who appreciate learning more about the Jewish backgrounds of their faith. Jews for Jesus was founded in 1973 by Moishe Rosen, who also co-wrote with his wife Ceil the book Christ in the Passover, based on their research of Passover in ancient times as well as modern practices.
Joseph grew up in a suburban Jewish community in the Boston area. She was bat mizvah and graduated from Hebrew school at a Conservative synagogue, but she became less religious in her teens and early twenties. Despite professional success in health policy, Joseph's spiritual restlessness led her to fill respond to an ad in the Boston Globe to receive free material from Jews for Jesus. Finally, she asked God to show her if Jesus really is the Messiah and "He did!" says Joseph.
Joseph has an M.A. in Missiology from the School of World Missions at Fuller Theological Seminary. She has held leadership positions with Jews for Jesus in Chicago, New York, Canada and Los Angeles. In 2007, she opened a new Jews for Jesus branch in Brooklyn, New York.
David Brickner, a fifth-generation Jewish believer in Jesus, succeeded Rosen as Executive Director in 1996. Brickner has kept Jews for Jesus on the cutting edge as the ministry has expanded and established branches in eleven countries, including the United States, Brazil, Israel, Russia, France and South Africa. "We exist to make the Messiahship of Jesus an unavoidable issue to our Jewish people worldwide," Brickner states. "There are still a few people who haven't heard of us!"
To Karol Joseph and other Jews for Jesus staff, the objective evidence of the Hebrew Bible and the New Testament, and the transformation of their own lives provide ample evidence that Jesus was who he claimed to be -- the Jewish Messiah. Joseph will be happy to answer questions after the presentation. Call 870-786-5468 for more information. There is no admission charge.
