Easter Sunday

What in this life can you be certain about?  Ben Franklin said only two things: death and taxes.  As Christians we believe and celebrate that Jesus lived, died for us, and rose again.  Can we be sure about that?  How can we find certainty in the midst of the uncertainty of life and the doubts that plague our hearts?  In a very personal message, I tried to answer how God has answered these questions for me.

"I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I committed unto him against that day." - 2 Timothy 1:12

Why Easter?

The symbol of Christianity is the cross.  As Jesus died, he said, "It is finished."  So why do we celebrate the resurrection?  Why is it so important?  Does it really matter that Jesus rose from the dead?

Three Messages of the Cross

There's a little misshapen cross on my desk.  It's sort of like a "stress ball," except it isn't squishy.  The apparent misshapenness of the cross is actually a design to make it fit in your hand as you close your fist around it.  It's called a "clinging cross."

I guess everyone who buys and holds this cross probably does so for a very personal reason.  It means something different to each person.  The message of the cross is a personal one, because the cross affects each of us in a very personal way.

Paul wrote, "The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God."  What is the message of the cross?  That's what this week's message is all about.

Christ in the Passover, Thursday, April 14th

Jesus' Last Supper was actually a Jewish Passover.  Karol Joseph of Jews for Jesus will re-create the traditional Passover service and explain how it foreshadowed Jesus' death and resurrection.  We are proud to host this presentation called "Christ in the Passover" on Thursday, April 14, at 6 p.m.

Jews for Jesus has presented "Christ in the Passover" at more than 38,000 churches.  It has been enthusiastically received by Christians who appreciate learning more about the Jewish backgrounds of their faith.  Jews for Jesus was founded in 1973 by Moishe Rosen, who also co-wrote with his wife Ceil the book Christ in the Passover, based on their research of Passover in ancient times as well as modern practices.

"Why Blood?" Part 3: Covered

On TV, blood means guilt.  If the folks on CSI--or any of the dozens of other shows like it--can find blood evidence at the crime scene, the guilty person can be identified and brought to justice.  Blood cries out for justice; it has been this way from the beginning.  But the blood of Jesus is different.  It covers over us so that we receive mercy.  How does that work?  Well, the mystery unfolds as we look at the picture of Jesus as the Passover Lamb...
